Getting Things Done

Ever since we moved into this place, I have always felt like there are so many things that I can do to improve it. The one thing that has been on my mind is the fingerprint door locks. I think that it would be much better if I can get something like this done. I honestly think that it will be beneficial for me to look into it. Sometimes I think that it is just not worth it, but is my safety not worth it? As a single guy living in my own home, I want to make sure that I am the only person who is allowed in and out of this place. I honestly do not want to risk anything, and I just know that it is worth it for me to invest into something like this. Sometimes it is kind of hard to really look at what I need to do in order to protect myself, and it is scary to think about the bad things that can happen.

Optical Turnstiles: Devices for Control Access

Gates which allow one person to pass at a time have been a trend in the industry of providing security management. They can also be used to manage traffic of people and allow only authorized ones to pass by them. Some of these barriers require tickets, coins, or even cards in order for people to have access to the area or establishment. With the use of modern technology software systems, security can be facilitated and information can be processed as these barriers and gates work. Infrared beams, sensor systems, and integral programmable logic controllers deny access to unauthorized personnel; hence, securing the area from intruders. There are different unique styles, designs, and types of turnstiles available in the market. Tall glass panels, stainless steel posts, and metal barriers are just some of the turnstile designs that can be perfect and can match the surrounding areas of your establishment’s lobby or in any part of your workplace.

Pepper Spray Comparison Test

This is part of a continuing series that we are producing about the different options that we have, as Americans, to be able to defend ourselves. In this month’s article, we are going to be looking at several options that you, the consumer, have when you are looking for pepper spray. To keep this issue relatively short, we are limiting ourselves to reviewing only four different types of pepper spray and pepper spray gel. The subjects this month are: Pepper Shot pepper spray, Wildfire pepper spray, Guard Dog pepper spray and Wildfire pepper spray gel.

First up is Pepper Shot pepper spray. Pepper Shot pepper spray is a 10% Oleoresin Capsaicin concentration pepper spray that is rated as a derivative of two million scoville heat units. It touts the fact that it uses an extremely fine grain pepper in the spray mixture which increases the speed of its effectiveness. Pepper Shot comes in four sizes and several types of spray patterns. The sizes that it comes in are: one-half ounce, two ounce, four ounce and nine ounce models. You can get the four ounce products in either a stream spray or a fogger spray model.

Pepper Shot is a veteran in the pepper spray field and has been around for over a decade. Pepper Shot has been dependable, effective defense for many years for many people.

We liked the fact that we were not limited in our choices to just one size with any of the brands we tested this month. Our overall impression of Pepper Shot pepper sprays was quite favorable.

The second brand of sprays that we tried out was Guard Dog pepper spray. Guard Dog’s pepper spray formula is a 17% Oleoresin Capsaicin mix. At 17% OC concentration, the effectiveness and intensity of the pain caused by the pepper spray is increased over most 10% OC sprays. Guard Dog’s actuators were easy, but not too easy to swivel into their unlocked position for spraying purposes.

Guard Dog is a relative newcomer to the pepper spray field with their entry coming in the last couple of years. They have made great strides though and produce a fine product. The sizes that you can find Guard Dog 17% OC pepper spray in are: one-half ounce, two ounce, three ounce, four ounce and nine ounce models.

While their one-half ounce keychain models felt like they were a lesser quality make compared to the Pepper Shot dispensers, the rest of the models were comparable to any of the others that we have tested here. Once again, we received a favorable impression of most of Guard Dog’s pepper spray products.

Wildfire pepper spray is the third brand of pepper spray that we are featuring this month. Wildfire pepper spray is an 18% OC concentration and is a derivative of two to three million scoville heat units. Out of the three sprays that we tried, Wildfire pepper spray had the most intense mix and the hottest rating. Spray distance was between ten and twelve feet and our subject was overcome almost instantaneously by this spray! In his words, “This is the worst feeling that I have ever had. Ever…” I should say that those words weren’t calmly spoken. That quote was taken after he had been writhing around on the ground screaming, crying, choking and basically blind for close to an hour. The spray says that its effects wear off in around forty five minutes. I was more than impressed with the effectiveness of Wildfire pepper spray over the others that we tried.

Like the other brands, Wildfire pepper spray comes in various sizes. A one-half ounce, two ounce, four ounce, nine ounce and one pound model are all available. They also have a stream and fogger option in the four and nine ounce products. The nine ounce and the one pound model come with a pistol grip for easier handling and higher accuracy.

The canisters that the Wildfire pepper spray came in were all solid. There was nothing “cheap” feeling with any of them. With the highest percentage of OC mix at 18%, Wildfire delivered the goods and knocked us off of our feet.

I do want to add something else here. Wildfire pepper spray has another product that they sent along for our test group. It is their newest item in the pepper spray family, Wildfire pepper spray gel. It is just as hot as their standard pepper sprays at 18% OC but comes in a gel suspension formula. When this gel is sprayed in an assailants face, it sticks like glue! There is no extra overspray to hit someone else accidently or to blow back in the wind towards your face. The extra bonus is that when your assailant goes to wipe the gel off of his face or out of his eyes, it actually grinds the pepper grains into the skin and eyes intensifying the effect and pain!

Wildfire pepper spray gel comes in three sizes: two ounce, four ounce and nine ounce canisters. The nine ounce canister comes with a pistol grip trigger mechanism.

All in all, we found that all of the options that we tested this week were effective in their own ways. The Pepper Shot pepper sprays, with their finer grain pepper, were the most easily inhaled and the fogger model makes it extremely difficult to get around it. The medium sized Guard Dog models are a great value for an exceptional spray. Wildfire seems to reign supreme as the best pepper spray though.

We thank you for checking in with us this month. See you again soon.

Where You Place Your Dummy CCTV Cameras

Dummy cctv cameras are great for any business. You might think that a real security camera is better but if you compare the prices, it is better you buy dummy cctv cameras. Dummy cameras are great because when your customers can see these cameras, it would discourage them from stealing from your store. You can save a lot of money from this. There are also a lot of great areas where you can place your dummy cctv cameras. You can place them where your customers can see them right away like on top of your shelves where you place the things you sell. You can also place them in areas where customers think people can’t see them. If they see the camera it can discourage them from stealing. The entrance and the exit and are also a great area because this is where people come and go and they would think twice to steal in your store if they see your dummy cctv cameras.

The River Bandits Round Third and It's Safes!!!

Okay seriously. Here’s the issue we all have items of value. Whether that value be sentimental or financial. It’s stuff we simply don’t want to be in anyone’s hands. Sometimes we don’t even want it in our own hands. What to do? Put it in Safes. A secure strong box! That’s what I’m talking about. I’ve had mine for years. Although it lacks some of the qualities and awesomeness of newer designs it gets the job done. They last forever. They are even designed to be fire resistant and water resistant. So in the event of the unimaginable; what I want safe is still just that. In the same condition that I left it. I have stuff that I don’t trust online either. So I save it to a thumb drive or burn it to a dvd. Then I put those in my safe. The amount of information my safe can hold is almost unlimited in that regard. Just something to think about.

Learn the Bumping Locks Trick

You will never know it but this trick can actually be useful to you in the future. You do not know when you might accidentally lock yourself out of your room, or out of your house. But when you do, knowing the bumping locks trick can save you the trouble of looking for a locksmith to do the job for you. Haven’t you ever experienced locking your car door while the key is still in the ignition? When this happened to me and I couldn’t find a locksmith to help, I scratched my car door trying to open it and yet I had to go home anyway and get the spare keys in my drawer. If I knew the bumping locks trick then, It wouldn’t have been much trouble. It’s a trick the old locksmiths thought of a way to open lock cylinders by bumping and jarring the locks open. It’s handy to learn.

Benefits to Having Bear Sprays While Camping

While going out camping in the wilderness, many people pack the necessities but don’t think about what they need to bring to protect themselves. There are a lot of animals in the wild that can harm you, which is why bear sprays are a great addition to your camping bag. This pepper spray works great when sprayed into an animal’s eyes. This will make them stop attacking you in the event you become close to one and they strike. Although it’s best to avoid any contact with an animal that is likely to attack you, it can happen when you least expect it. Chances that you will be able to fight back are going to be slim to none if you don’t have this pepper spray on your side. All you have to do is get it into the animal’s eyes and they will stop attacking you. This can help you run to safety and avoid any further harm. Bears don’t stand a chance against this strong spray that will fully shut down their field of view from knowing where you are.

Night Vision Security Cameras: Giving Better Protection

Crime rates are increasing each day. Even though crimes happen in broad daylight, more untoward incidents are reported to happen during night time. Criminal elements get undue advantage doing their mischief and criminal acts in areas where lighting is poor. Most of them would even deliberately plan on killing off the lights in order to accomplish their mission. It’s a good thing that security systems have come up with such gadgets like night vision security cameras. These equipment are capable of monitoring poorly-lit areas and even those that are in total darkness. Although security systems such as this would entail more cost and investment, it is certain worthwhile to invest in one as they carry with them more advantages than regular security cameras. Having said that it entails a considerable amount of investment, it’s also important that you get your units from reputable suppliers or merchants to ensure that you are paying for good quality security systems.

I Recommend Everyone Buy Some Safes

If you have items that need to be protected, then you need to buy some safes. These are things that everyone needs to have in their homes, especially in this day and age. It is very important to protect your valuables from people who want to steal them or just random events that could happen, like a fire or a tornado. A good safe is so strong and secure that it is very hard to break into or destroy. Once a thief actually broke into my home and attempted to crack the safe, and when he could not, he tried to pick it up and haul it off, and I am assuming he did this to force his way into it somewhere else where he had what he thought would be the right tools. Well, the safe was too heavy for him to bear, and he ended up injuring himself trying to life it. When I came home, I found him lying on my floor incapacitated. I laughed at him, then I called the police who came over and laughed at him too before they took him off the jail.
